Boys Town can help struggling families in Nebraska and across the country find alternative resources for their children or families before resorting to dropping off children at a Safe Haven.  The Boys Town National Hotline (1.800.448.3000) offers free help and is available to families - parents, adolescents, kids and teens - with trained counselors and connections to key community resources to keep families intact.

The Only True Safe Haven For Children Is A Loving Home

More than 30 children were dropped off at Nebraska hospitals or police stations, five from outside the state using Nebraska’s Safe Haven Law. The law, designed to prevent so-called “dumpster babies,” is the only one in the United States that does not specify the age of the child who is relinquished into the custody of the state without fear of prosecution for abandonment.
