Boys Town Takes Strategic Initiative in Nebraska and IowaMore Nebraska and Iowa families are being served through In-Home Family Services thanks to the steps Boys Town is taking in those states to meet our new strategic plan. Boys Town is working with the state of Nebraska as a lead organization in Douglas and Sarpy counties, serving an additional 150 families in-home as of July 1 and providing quality care through Safety and In-Home Services. “The state of Nebraska knows the type of care we provide kids long-term and this is an opportunity for us to really show the community the quality care and positive outcomes Boys Town provides through In-Home Services for children and families,” said Tammy Davis, Assistant Coordinator for Nebraska Safety and In-Home Services. In Iowa, more than 280 families have already been served from Jan. to June 2008 and around 30 staff have been hired to help with the cases. Nick Juliano, Director of Business Development, says Boys Town Iowa may serve more than 400 families this year alone. “There is a tremendous need for In-Home Family Services in Iowa and we have grown rapidly to meet that need,” said Juliano. “This growth has allowed us to serve many families and to help prevent hundreds of children from being removed from their homes.” In-Home Services are carried out by Boys Town Family-Consultants, who provide support for the family and skills for both parent and child to improve family life. “One of the major goals for Nebraska and Iowa is to serve 500 families in 2008 and we are easily going to exceed that,” said Brad Brown, Director of Home-Based Services. “This is an opportunity for us to help our families stay together and develop self-preservation.” Boys Town is also working with Heartland Family Service in Nebraska to reunite troubled youth with their family and reintroduce them into their community through Youth Links. Youth Links officially opened April 21 and has already helped more than 100 youth and families reconnect. |
